Experimentation Projects

Tuesday 29/11/2005 (This is the model for testing events)

Tasks:

  • create a link from CodeWarrior to zuec using 2 24dBi grids
  • create a link from greedyflyza to jasweb/zuec - DID NOT WORK (Trees in the way)
  • create a link from jasweb to zeuc - GREAT POSSIBILITIES
  • evaluate zuec's home as potential high site VERY TRICKY, TOO MANY TREES
  • fiddle with equipment
  • wardriving
  • create a link from BokWortel to greedyflyza, (Looks good, no test done yet)
  • possibly test a link from zuec to th0rn (NOT GONNA HAPPEN SOON)

Stuff we need (additional):

  • two way radios
  • GPS data and readers
  • mobile internet access e.g. GPRS/3G

Equipment available for testing:
Linksys WRT54G DD-WRT v23b3 24/11/2005 (gfza) Info

LG 802.11bg Wireless USB adapter (gfza)
MSI PC54G2 PCI 802.11bg Adapter (gfza) Info
2 24dBi Grid antennas (th0rn)
2 WRT54G (th0rn)

Feel free to join for the experience, to get to know us, to see how interesting the project is or how passionate we are. No need for equipment. You can use the testing to see if its really worth the effort. Test results will be provided but for the best possible accuracy - you will have to be there.

We will be driving around a bit and might split into separate teams.

It will probably be a whole day thing with various people taking part throughout the day.

So far the following people are attending: greedyflyza, th0rn, malec, zuec, bokwortel (partial), codewarrior (partial), J (very partial)

The map of links that we *hope* to test is shown in Tuesday map - this is only the "main" centurion link (thanks to google earth not covering CodeWarrior's area)
