Welcome to the Pretoria Wireless Project.

There is talk of merging PWP and Ptawug. All comments and suggestions are welcomed! Please make your voice heard in irc

Pretoria Wireless Project is a high-speed, community built and operated wireless data-network. We do not provide internet access!.

The network is neutral, and anybody can contribute to it by publishing content or services, and by helping the community expand. Currently there are many services such as gaming servers, ftp and torrent servers, VoIP and many more. Any services that run on the Internet protocol are possible.

The Pretoria Wireless Project is concentrated in the Pretoria (Tshwane) area. Click here for more information and some history about the project.

Please join our IRC channel via the web-interface, or #pwp on irc.pwp.za.net. If you don’t know what IRC is have a look at the mIRC Intro.

Please register on the Wireless Nodes Database if you are interested in joining this project.

  • 2008-07-20: New Coverage for Wierda Park, Eldoraigne, Clubview, Hennopspark and Valhalla. We have some kit available to test for coverage, please email support@pwp.za.net for more information. Please see Highsite Upgrades and help us expand coverage.
  • 2008-07-05: WUGMEET 11 July 19h00 @ Zaber's place. It will be an informal braai, so bring meat and drink (rest will be supplied). RSVP to zaber@pwp.za.net if you will attend and he'll mail you directions.
  • 2008-05-11: New 5 GHz coverage in centurion. See this coverage map for more information.
  • 2008-04-02: Meeting at Ridgeback (Corner of South & Jean Street in Centurion), 9 April at 19h00.
  • 2008-03-27: Added some Coverage diagrams.
  • 2008-02-23: Wireless Linkup Event Happening at the Department of Science and Technology, Building 53, CSIR Campus, on 23 February @ 9:30 - 13:00. More info here.
