  • 2008-01-24: Possible new coverage in Centurion. This coverage would be on 5 GHz, contact th0rn for more information. Contribution will be needed to make this coverage a reality.

2007

  • 2007-12-01: Just a reminder on the informal get-together at Ridgeback (Corner of South & Jean Street in Centurion), Wednesday 05 December at 19h00 to discuss progress and touch base. Everyone is welcome.
  • 2007-11-17: Server restored.
  • 2007-11-07: The PSU on the PWP box failed. We're waiting for a replacement. In the meantime it might be slow at times, so be patient.
  • 2007-11-04: PWP and Jawug has successfully linked. Special thanks goes to th0rn, h4wk, Rabidbunny, Codewarrior and Deckert for their efforts with the install and contributions! The Mybroadband thread on the link
  • 2007-09-06: Meeting on the 12th September around 19h00 at Ridgeback, please leave a post on the forum or mail Codewarrior if you are coming.
  • 2007-08-29: The PWP Photo gallery is now alive and kicking, please register and upload your fotos!
  • 2007-08-27: We're organizing an informal get-together at Ridgeback (Corner of South & Jean Street in Centurion), Wednesday 29 August at 19h00 to discuss progress and touch base. Everyone is welcome. The meeting will be rescheduled since the majority of interested folks couldn't attend this wednesday.
  • 2007-07-31: FAQ added.
  • 2007-07-23: WiND's (wind.pwp.za.net) Line of Sight (LOS) feature is now functional.
  • 2007-06-26: WiND(Wireless Nodes Database) beta goes live. Please register at wind.pwp.za.net.
  • 2007-06-07: Its time for another meeting! Please throw around some dates in IRC, final date will be posted here.
  • 2007-05-26: Frenchman install is complete at last, photos to be posted shortly. Most of central centurion is now covered.
  • 2007-04-22: It was brought to our attention that South-Africa plays Cricket against Australia on 25 April. As such the meeting will be moved to 19h00, 2 May 2007, at Ridgeback (Corner of South & Jean in Centurion). CodeWarrior will sponsor the first round ;-)
  • 2007-04-20: We are now running a new jabber service. Sadly the previous one stopped working after upgrades. Please re-register your accounts, and contact CodeWarrior if you need help with you previous contacts. Apologies for the inconvenience.

  • 2007-02-06: We're having a meeting at Ridgeback (Corner of South & Jean Street in Centurion), Thursday evening 2007-02-08 at 19h30 to chat about progress. Everyone is welcome.
  • 2007-01-22: Ross highsite has been upgraded to 4 interfaces, parts of Lyttelton and Doringkloof now have coverage. Highveld and parts of the golf estate will have coverage in the next few weeks.

2006

  • 2006-10-20: The World Summit on Free Information Infrastructures in Dharamsala, India is happening. For more information please visit www.wsfii.organd summit.airjaldi.com.
  • 2006-08-02: The interlink between PWP and Jawug is being delayed indefinitely. Due to some complex politics", we've lost our landing point on the Pretoria side indefinitely. We're currently searching for an alternative landing point, and will keep everybody posted.
  • 2006-10-18: We're having a b33r night at th0rn's secret drinking place ;) Tuesday evening 2006-10-24 at 19h00 to chat about progress and where where heading, at Ridgeback Cnr of South & Jean Str. Depending on how many are coming, I'll buy a round. - Codewarrior
  • 2006-09-19: Welcome RabidBunny onto PWP.
  • 2006-07-13: It's official, PWP and Jawug is planning an interlink!!!
  • 2006-06-25: Frenchman's First radio installation complete. Testing from soldat and th0rn to commence soon.
  • 2006-06-20: Antowan installation. Welcome Antowan onto the network!!!!
  • 2006-06-04: Frenchman to go live this week with one radio, and upgraded to 4 radios soon thereafter.
  • 2006-06-03: Oneiros has been upgraded!!! Welcome to ROSS onto the network, and ANTOWAN,BOKWORTEL has coverage under the new setup. Well done guys. New links to follow soon after this major rework at oneiros.
  • 2006-05-15: Re-testing to commence between Oneiros and Jasweb.

Update: Test was successful.

  • 2006-05-04: Full blown link testing to be done at Jasweb next thursday.

Update: Testing didn't work, WRT54GL's TX port has changed around...so we were using the wrong one. Re-testing to commence next week.

Older

  • Another router and antenna going up soon at Oneiros to provide better coverage. These will cover the Doringkloof / Irene areas, and the Lyttleton (Jean Ave) area. We are just waiting for stock.
  • Next PWP social / information event coming early May, contact us on irc (see links above) if you are interested.
  • Initial Nodes for the Pretoria Area ( Moot, Brooklyn and Waterkloof ) planned, contact us if you want to get your node up first in your area in order to start or to join the network in your area.
  • PWP is finally moving forward. We have 5 nodes on the network.
  • Meeting scheduled for Saturday the 28th. (Taken Place)
  • First highsite went live on the 21/01/2006 at Oneiros
